A Grand from The Grand
Following a successful debut in 2025, Racing Te Aroha’s popular ‘A Grand from The Grand’ jockeys’ competition will return for the second running of the Great New Zealand Jumps Carnival on Friday 18 and Sunday 20 September.
Run in partnership with New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR), the competition will once again see jockeys accumulate points across both days of the Carnival, with the overall winner receiving a $1,000 cash prize, proudly sponsored by long-standing Te Aroha community supporter, The Grand Tavern.
NZTR will also support the competition with $300 for the second-placed jockey and $200 for third.

- Highweights: 1st = 4 points, 2nd = 2 points, 3rd = 1 point
- Jumps Races: 1st = 6 points, 2nd = 3 points, 3rd = 1 point
- Feature Races: 1st = 12 points, 2nd = 6 points, 3rd = 2 points
