NZTR has confirmed two of the nation’s premier Group 1 races will move venues and dates this season in a step to protect their international status and strengthen the industry’s racing calendar.
The stakes have been raised for Rotorua’s premier spring sprint, with Rotorua Racing Club and NZTR confirming the Group 3 Sweynesse Stakes (1215m) will now carry a $140,000 purse on Novara Park Stakes Day, Sunday 12 October.
Racing Te Aroha, in partnership with NZTR, will launch a new Jockeys’ competition at the inaugural Great New Zealand Jumps Carnival on Friday 19 and Sunday 21 September.
This evening, New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing and Hawke’s Bay Racing Inc. presented to Club Members on proposals for the future of racing in the Hawke’s Bay region.
Thoroughbreds are well-known for their versatility off the track, and seven-year-old gelding Good Country has showcased that with his success in endurance riding this past season.
