Welfare Levy invests $1.095 million in Thoroughbred care and safety

New Zealand’s industry-funded 1% Thoroughbred Welfare Levy invested $1.095 million in Thoroughbred welfare during the 2025/26 season, supporting racing safety, retraining and rehoming, and opportunities for Thoroughbreds after racing.

GST Removed from Thoroughbred Welfare Levy from 1 August

New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR) is pleased to confirm that GST will no longer apply to the 1% Thoroughbred Welfare Levy from 1 August 2026, following a binding ruling from Inland Revenue.
