Following a busy summer season, we are pleased to present New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing’s 1% Welfare Levy Spend. This report reflects the progress made in Q2 and outlines how levy funds are being directed to initiatives that align with current and upcoming strategic priorities.
In the coming weeks, NZTR will launch the 2026 Welfare Strategy - this is a major body of work that will guide our long‑term approach to Thoroughbred welfare. Over the next 12 months, the strategy will place a strong emphasis on enhanced traceability, improved rehoming and retraining pathways, expanded education and communication, and a more targeted sponsorship framework to support the people and organisations delivering high‑quality care across the industry.
