Wilson secured the Series title after guiding the Kevin Myers-trained So Call Me to victory in the Duke of Gloucester Cup at Te Aroha on Sunday.
Her fourth win of the 12-race Series took her final tally to 56 points, seven clear of runner-up Monique Dey. Scotty MacNab finished third on 43 points, ahead of Alexandra Reed on 38 and Lucy Klee on 30.
Wilson’s success was built on impressive consistency, with four wins and three placings from eight rides across the Series.
Held between May and September, this year’s Amateur Rider Series attracted 26 riders and visited racecourses throughout the country, including Whanganui, Te Aroha, Trentham, Woodville, Avondale and Riccarton.
The Series provides an important opportunity for amateur riders to develop their raceday experience and demonstrate their skills, with many participants working full-time in the industry as stablehands and trackwork riders.
It has also proved to be a valuable pathway into professional racing careers. Previous Series winner Abhay Seesa is now part of NZTR’s Elite Jockey Programme, alongside 2026 Series participants Alyssa Parris and Krishi Ramdhun.
Across the 12 races, 122 horses competed, representing 91 individual horses and 56 trainers. The average field size was 10.16, while each race produced a different winner.
Kevin Myers was the leading trainer, preparing five winners and providing 22 starters across the Series. The Rogerson and Isdale partnership recorded two wins from 10 starters.
Race Images NZ continues to provide generous support as sponsor of the Series. After each race, the winning rider receives a gift voucher and framed photograph of their victory, while Wilson was presented with the overall Series trophy following Sunday’s finale.
