New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR) is thrilled to announce the finalists for its revamped Club of the Year Awards, set to be awarded at the 2024 Industry Development Day on 26 March.

Each New Zealand racing Club was assessed against a performance framework including the following categories: Financial, Racing, Marketing, Governance and Innovation.

The selection of finalists and winners will be presented in three distinct categories: Metropolitan, Provincial, and Country Clubs. An overarching Club of the Year Award will also be presented based on these assessments.

NZTR Chief Executive Officer Bruce Sharrock is pleased to implement the revised Club Awards framework.

“We see our Club Awards as playing a pivotal role in recognising and celebrating the outstanding contributions and achievements of New Zealand’s well-performing racing Clubs.”

“We identified some key principles driving this initiative and have aimed to elevate the significance of these Awards by presenting them at our 2024 Industry Development Day held on 26 March,” Sharrock said.

Adding further appeal, Entain Australia and New Zealand will provide a $25k prize fund distributed across the three classifications: Metropolitan, Provincial, and Country, with each receiving $5k in prize fund. Additionally, the

Overall Club Award winner will be granted $10k in prize fund.

Entain - New Zealand Managing Director, Cameron Rodger, is looking forward to rewarding the Clubs for their success.

“This year, Entain wanted to award a prize fund for Clubs that will support Clubs and encourage them to engage in activities that promote oncourse wagering throughout the remainder of 2024.”

“We look forward to working closely with winning Clubs on bespoke initiatives, all of which will be aimed at driving wagering interest and growth,” Rodger said.
