Martin Collins New Zealand Cup & Barneswood Farm NZ 1000 Guineas® Day at Riccarton Park Racecourse on Saturday 18 November is officially sold out.
The Canterbury Jockey Club announced that sales for the capacity attendance of 15,000 people was reached on Thursday at lunchtime. This included reaching the capacity for General Admission. Consequently, there will be no sales on the day.
The figure of 15,000 includes the allocation for owners of horses racing on the day who are sent their official ticket by way of an ‘Owners Letter’ from New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing.
This is the fourth consecutive year that NZ Cup Day at Riccarton Park has sold out. 2020, 2022 and 2023 all reached the 15,000 mark prior to the day whilst 2021 also sold out at a much lower figure restricted by Covid19 regulations.
Interest in the day is further highlighted by a record number of 257 horses wanting to compete across 12 races on this iconic raceday.
The two feature races are the Group 1 $500,000 Barnwood Farm NZ 1000 Guineas® race 7 at 2:58 pm and the $300,000 Martin Collins New Zealand Cup® at 5:24 pm.
New Zealand Cup day brings down the curtain on Canterbury’s envied New Zealand Cup and Show Week and concludes the Canterbury Jockey Club three-day New Zealand Cup Meeting. Riccarton Parks reestablished footprint following the demolition of the Public Grandstand hosted two extremely successful racedays on Saturday and Wednesday just past with increased attendances and sales.
