Breeders Service Centre
The Breeders Service Centre (BSC) is NZTR’s online service for managing breeding and Stud Book requirements. Users can complete live foal notifications, mare and stallion returns, update breeding information, make payments and access invoices.
Access to the BSC requires registration with NZTR Stud Book. To register for access, or for assistance with an existing account, contact Stud Book at studbook@nztr.co.nz.
Notify NZTR of a live foal within 30 days of birth.
Annual registration and record foaling and service information.

Register a mare entering the Stud Book for the first time.
Pay eligible Stud Book fees online.
Stud Book Forms
The following forms are for Stud Book services that cannot be completed through the Breeders Service Centre. Forms can be completed electronically as fillable PDFs on a computer or mobile device, or printed and completed by hand. Completed forms and any required supporting information should be emailed to studbook@nztr.co.nz.
Stud Book Information
The New Zealand Stud Book is the official record of New Zealand thoroughbred breeding, providing information on registered thoroughbreds, pedigrees, breeding records and stallions. Imports & Exports
Find the information, requirements and documentation needed when importing or exporting a Thoroughbred to or from New Zealand. This section provides guidance on the process, the documentation required and the forms needed to ensure Stud Book requirements are completed correctly.
The owner is responsible for lodging the appropriate Import Application for every Thoroughbred imported into New Zealand.
Choose the form for a named racehorse, broodmare or stallion, or an unnamed horse.
The shipping agent submits the export application to NZTR.
The Stud Book completes the required checks and issues documentation to the destination Stud Book or Thoroughbred Exporting/Importing Organisation (TEIO).
Imports Forms
The following forms are used to register Thoroughbreds being imported into New Zealand. Select the appropriate form depending on whether the horse is a named racehorse, broodmare or stallion, or an unnamed horse. Forms can be completed electronically as fillable PDFs on a computer or mobile device, or printed and completed by hand. Once completed, please return the form and any required supporting documentation by email to studbook@nztr.co.nz.
